The Changing Landscape of Liquidity
Deposit Pricing and Liquidity in a Rising Interest Rate Environment
Loan growth is outpacing deposit growth and loans are becoming a higher percentage of total assets. Wholesale funding levels are increasing and deposit uncertainty abounds. Undeniably, liquidity is under pressure and the regulators understand the impact these factors can have on your bank. This session will address the changing liquidity landscape in our industry, how deposit pricing pressures relate to liquidity pressures, and what every institution should be doing to develop a “best practice” approach in liquidity management.
Through the review of industry trends we explore what lies ahead for the community sector. We will discuss the upcoming rise in funding costs and outline the critical elements all institutions should have in their liquidity management reports (both operational and contingency) and utilize real life case studies to highlight strategies that increase margin while managing liquidity risk.
This session will address the following:
- Deposit pricing pressures as we approach a 2.00% Fed Funds level
- Becoming comfortable with higher levels of wholesale funding
- The importance of stress testing – and remediation plans
- Case studies to improve margin and manage liquidity
- Proactively managing liquidity with higher regulatory scrutiny
